Mediocre Debut for Columbus Tavern - With an expensive food menu and wine list with the lowest price starting at $10/glass, The Columbus Tavern on Columbus between 72nd and 73rd streets is starting off on shaky ground with their business model for this area. Upper West Siders don't mind paying up for an upscale restaurant, but Columbus Tavern is caught between a traditional pub and a high-end restaurant. It didn't help that the bartender gave me a short-pour on both of my glasses of Cabernet - leaving me wanting more after plunking down $20. My burger was okay, but for $16 should have been better than okay. After overhearing co-owner Jeremy berating the staff, I concluded Columbus Tavern is a long shot to survive on the UWS.
