The Dead Poet is a welcoming, friendly Irish Pub designed to honor the lives of famous writers & poets.

The Dead Poet opened its door in September 2000, designed to celebrate the lives and spirits of famous writers and poets, combining the owner Drew Dvorkin's passions of literature and Irish Pubs. The mahogony-panelled walls are adorned with black and white portraits musing quotations and poetic passages pertaining to the universal quandries of life.

Upbeat and amiable, The Dead Poet is frequented by an eclectic group of patrons., including college strudents, Upper West Side locals, musicians, and professionals.

The bar offers an extensive Irish Whiskey menu, their signature pints of Guinness with a shamrock, and premium draft beer.  While their welcoming , proficient staff, fills your glass, browse through their library of classic works of literature for your enjoyment.

They offer all day Happy Hour on Saturday's & Sunday's, and  their famous Thank Goodness for Guinness Friday's, $5 Guinness Pints from 8pm to close.

ANother good NY bar ( - Elizabeth L rates it 6 out of 10) - This has got to be one of the smallest bars in the city! It is a true, slim rectangle! But they have some great beers on tap and some great music. Nice atmostphere, great place to hang with friends and get started on a night out in NYC. ...read more
